Mentor Community

Mentor Community

Course alumni interested in becoming a mentor may apply to the program after they have received the Certificate of Completion and have reviewed, understand and accept the CCO Mentoring Agreement.

CCO Mentors are supported throughout the year with monthly mentor community conferences that include skill building, Q&A, troubleshooting, as well as situational support and scenarios, role-plays, and more.

Mentors have access to the Global Compassion Network Mentors Forum, and a listing in the Mentor Directory (made available to CCO participants).

FAQ

Q: How do I find people to mentor?

A: There will be a community forum of available course mentors for CCO participants. As well, you can invite friends, family and colleagues into the course so that you can offer them mentoring.

Q: How often to I meet with my mentees?

A: The intention of the mentoring program is that you agree with your mentee as to how often and for how long to meet.

Q: What do I do in these mentoring sessions?

A: Here is the “big picture” of mentoring

Guiding people through the integration process

  • To understand that needs and feelings exist and what they are

  • To be able to recognize and articulate feelings and needs in yourself and in others

  • To develop and deepen your relationship with those energies in you and in others

  • To be able to see yourself and others empathically and create needs-based dialogues

  • When your life is guided by the wisdom of life-energy (feelings and needs) and it informs how you relate to yourself, others and the universe

Q: Does the course offer support to mentors?

A: Yes, participants will receive email reminders for the monthly Mentoring Program conference. As well, there will be a 24/7 connection to the CCO mentoring community via our private and secure forum. Based on our experience with the Organizer/Facilitators, we understand the importance of this group as a source of wisdom and support.

Q: Can I charge people for mentoring?

A: We are supporters of energy exchange, although we do not set fees. That is an agreement made between the mentor and the mentee. What people agree to pay varies widely from pro-bono (free) to over $200 per session depending upon location, skill, finances, situations, and other pertinent information.

Mentoring Program Agreement

1) Each Mentor agrees to focus specifically on the work of The Compassion Course.

• They agree that Mentoring is different from "training" where you would take responsibility for the curriculum and content. In the Compassion Course, that is done through the weekly messages and conferences. The purpose of the mentoring sessions is to clarify and practice the content and exercises and help the mentee apply it to their own life.

• Agrees to follow the curriculum of The Compassion Course which was based upon decades of experience living and teaching the work of the course. Adding other ideas or taking the course too far out of order can easily degrade its integrity and effectiveness. The quality of the course relies upon this agreement.

• Mentor agrees that they are there to assist the mentees in understanding and integrating the work of the Compassion Course and that they are not there to provide therapy and will refrain from counseling or advising regarding personal matters.

2) Mentor must have received a CCO Certificate of Completion.

3) Mentor agrees to provide each of their mentees with the link to the CCO Mentoring Feedback Form, at or before their initial meeting.

4) Mentor agrees to mentor people currently registered in the course.
• Without registration, participants are excluded from vital community features and the economic model and sustainability of the course is negatively impacted.

5) Mentor agrees to attend or listen to the live Empathy 101 and Working with Anger trainings.

6) The Compassion Course agrees to:

• Provide a monthly leadership conference for both O/F's and Mentors. These conferences will be peer-led by experienced and highly skilled O/F's and Mentors.

• Provide a 24/7 connection to the Mentor community via our private and secure forum. Based on previous experience with the Mentor community, we understand the importance of this group as a source of wisdom and support.

7) We are supporters of energy exchange, although we do not set fees. That is an agreement made between the mentor and the mentee. What people agree to pay varies widely from pro-bono (free) to over $200 per session depending upon location, skill, finances, situations, and other pertinent information. Sessions of 30 to 60 minutes, 2-4x per month are common although other agreements are possible, as long as it works for both the mentor and the mentee.
